FAQ

1. Can I refinance my home if I’m behind on mortgage payments?

Possibly. Being behind on your mortgage can make refinancing more difficult, but your options depend on factors such as your home equity, income, credit, payment history, lender requirements, and whether foreclosure proceedings have already started.

Haven Home starts by reviewing your situation and exploring potential financing options through its lender network. Our goal is to help you identify a realistic path forward before considering a sale.

2. What if I have substantial home equity but cannot qualify for a traditional loan?

Having substantial equity may give you options beyond conventional refinancing. Depending on your circumstances, these could include specialized financing, certain home-equity arrangements, or a planned sale that allows you to recover your remaining equity.

Haven Home reviews your situation to help identify which options may be available. Not every solution is suitable for every homeowner, and eligibility is not guaranteed.

3. Can I access a small amount of home equity without making monthly payments?

Certain home-equity arrangements may provide funds without requiring scheduled monthly payments. Instead, repayment or settlement may occur when the property is sold, refinanced, or another event specified in the agreement takes place.

These arrangements can have significant costs and may reduce the equity you retain in your home. Availability, eligibility, and terms depend on the provider and your circumstances.

Haven Home can help you explore whether an appropriate option is available after reviewing your situation.

4. Does Haven Home require me to sell my house?

No. Selling your home is not the starting point of our process.

We begin by exploring whether financing or another available solution could help you remain in your home. If staying is not financially feasible, we can discuss a planned sale and help you understand how much equity you may retain after paying off your mortgage, other obligations, and selling costs.

You decide whether to pursue any proposed option.

5. How does Haven Home determine which options may be available to me?

We start by learning about your property, estimated home value, outstanding mortgage balance, payment status, financial circumstances, and what you hope to achieve.

We then review potential paths based on the information you provide. Depending on your situation, that may involve exploring refinancing, alternative funding, or a planned sale.

Completing our qualification form does not guarantee financing, funding, or any particular outcome.

6. How do I get started with Haven Home?

Click “See if I qualify” and complete our short homeowner questionnaire. Tell us about your property, mortgage, current situation, and preferred outcome.

We’ll use that information to review your circumstances and determine whether there may be a suitable next step.
